Dying Decisions

In many cases, death catches people by surprise. In many others though, it’s a result of a long illness, or of old age, and it’s something expected. In such a case, the dying decisions can be thought of in advance and many of the things that need to be decided on can be chosen by the person that will pass away eventually. These decisions include a number of things, such as the type of funeral they want, whether they prefer cremation or burial, where they want to be buried (or where their ashes should be scattered), and so on. Quite a few things could be decided and paid for in advance if it’s possible, so that the family is impacted as little as possible by the passing of their loved one.

Dying DecisionsOne of the biggest dying decisions one can make is on the kind of funeral he wants. If he doesn’t like the idea of inhumation, he might want to request a cremation instead. If he lived a green life and wants to protect the environment with his final decisions, he can request a green funeral, which would impact the environment as little as possible. Or, just as well, he might just want a regular funeral, just like his relatives and parents had.

These last decisions made in advance can often be used to lessen the burden of the ones that stay behind, financially or otherwise. From a financial point of view, setting aside money for the funeral can be a good idea, but there is also the possibility of using funeral insurance to help cover those costs. Some could even go as far as buying the materials in advance, and keeping the casket or the candles in a shed.

If death is something that is unavoidable because of age or illness, why not make it easy on the loved ones and make those decisions in advance, so they know exactly what they have to do when the moment comes.
